Pro-Ject PJ82382120 Phono Box S2 Ultra Pre-Amplifier - Black
The Pro-Ject PJ82382120 Phono Box S2 Ultra is like no other phono preamplifier in its segment. The success of our Phono Box Ultra 500, incited us to introduce this marvelously sounding phono preamp into the S2 line. The solid metal casing protects against interference and the internal design remains as spectacular as before. We are offering a fully discrete, OpAmp less design, which enabled us to realize an incredibly harmonious sound.
On top of leaving out operational amplifiers we decided to use polystyrene capacitors. Which significantly contribute to the high end sound of the Pro-Ject PJ82382120 Phono Box S2 Ultra. These capacitors, known amongst audiophiles as the holy grail for phono preamplifiers. The split RIAA equalization enables a pin-point accurate representation of the RIAA curve. A luxury many other phono preamps do not possess.
Also included with the Pro-Ject PJ82382120 Phono Box S2 Ultra, are precise RIAA equalization for accuracy and realism. Which most competitively priced phono preamps lack. Also onboard is a switchable subsonic filter (18dB @ 20Hz) to combat turntable rumble and other low frequency resonance. Switchable input impedance/capacitance, and four adjustable gain levels to suit a wide range of phono cartridges. The Pro-Ject PJ82382120 S2 Ultra uses an external wall-wart type PSU, which means there should be a reduction in noise levels in comparison with housing the PSU internally. Adjustments for loading and gain are on the underside of the chassis, and also thereâs a decent range of adjustment for such an affordable design.
